Well, today did not go how I had planned. I had planned to be a good Susie Homemaker and do all the laundry, go to the grocery store, and end the day with great healthy meal with a new recipe to share on my blog. God had different plans it seems. I got a phone call at about 4 pm that the alarm at the store was going off and that police were not responding because apparently my permit is up?? So against my will, I drove all the way down to Fort Worth to check it out on the off chance it had been burglarized. Low and behold when I arrived, the door was open, and broken, and the tv had been taken of the wall and was laying on the floor face down. I called the police and waited forever, well actually about 40 minutes, for them to come. They arrived and went in with their hands on their weapons (thats what you are supposed to call them right? not guns?) and had a looksie. No one was there, so I came in to see the damage. I think that I have seen too many police movies and tv because what followed was not what I expected at all. They proceeded to ooh and aah over the bathtubs and fans and occasionally ask me a pertinent question regarding the robbery. Dang! I was so let down. I was expecting to have dusting for fingerprints and checking for clues but there was really not much of that. They did take a fingerprint off the door (and not the tv that the crooks had for sure touched) and then told me to have a nice evening and that they would like to come back and buy stuff.
So now I am waiting for my dh to return with a chain and a padlock because after waiting since about 5:30 the locksmith called back to say that there was really not much he could do, and to get a chain. So here it is 8pm and I'm hungry, irritated and anxious to get out of here. Oh well... I guess I don't have to cook now?

New Idea
I'm inspired by the blog I found that is linked on this page - the "Becoming a Foodie" one. I fancy myself a sorta-foodie and definitely love the occasional spending spree at Central Market and I'm always up for trying something new. So I'm going to post foods or recipes I find that are yummy but WW and/or diet friendly as I come across them. I would love nothing better than to eat gourmet meals, baked brie and queso, but that is how I got in this situation in the first place. I firmly believe that keeping it interesting is the key to diet success... unfortunately that takes lots of prep, planning and work but I going to give it a try. If anyone reading has any suggestions - recipes, etc - please speak up.

Weight Watchers Week 1
I'm officially back to being a Weight Watchers devotee. Its so cheesy but it works. The super cheesy part is the part where the leader does things like act out a 3 person scene in different soap opera persona's to a script that talks about trigger foods and Super Sugar Bombs. So that we know which character she is currently being - she changes her voice, and does things like put her finger above her mouth to signify the mustache of the hero of the story. Its so silly its funny. It is slightly like a food-addict AA meeting, but I suspect that is why it works. So far today I have stuck to my points and it should be a good first day since I went out with a bang yesterday by gorging myself on a bag of Wavy Lays and an entire tin of Spicy Bean Dip - followed up by an awesome serving of Taco Bell and Mountain Dew - ugh!! All this was before I went to my first meeting and weighed in - so its only a beginning weight watchers type of thing - not a weekly thing. If anyone out there reading this wants to do WW with me, its so much better if you have a buddy! Also feel free to leave any nuggets of wisdom having to do with dieting/weight watchers/etc in comments.

Well... life goes on
Well I think everyone knows by now but in case you haven't heard - We lost the baby. I had a D&C last Friday after finding out from the doctor on Thursday that my HCG pregnancy hormone had dropped. It was very hard and still is but I'm recovering, mentally and physically. According to the doctor the reason for the miscarriage is what is called a Blighted Ovum - pretty common with PCOS people. Today I am focusing on the future - and looking at this as an opportunity to improve things before becoming preggers again. We can try again in 3 months to make a baby and I'm really looking forward to that. In the mean time I am excited about what I can do right now. I'm focusing on my opportunity to exercise and eat well and loose weight. We still have our membership to Lifetime Fitness and I intend on putting it to good use. Now more than ever I need to loose weight and I think I am more motivated than ever before - its no longer simply vanity but my health, the health of my child and my future with my family.
So I am back at work today - my 1st full day back. This weekend we are going to New Braunfels to visit my newly Diabetic mom and pop. It will be good to get away and spend time with the fam. Other good news - I died my hair. I should say Ashley dyed my hair. She finally broke me down and convinced me that the blond highlights are a thing for teeny boppers. So as a result I am now a sassy brunette and I like it - it looks more like me.
Jay and I had our 4 year anniversary yesterday and there ain't nothing that says lovin' like Red Lobster... I love it and I just don't care what you think. We hung out with the bra-less grannys and screaming kids and ate shrimp and loved it! We went to Saint Emilion on Saturday night for our fancy Anniversary dinner. Jay picked it out and its my new favorite. Its a small quaint french country restaurant in Fort Worth, just down the street from my showroom. We had escargot and rabbit and all things french. I highly recommend it!
I'll blog more about my weight loss and how that is going soon. I am joining Weight Watchers again so that combined with the gym should get me somewhere. I'll also post pics of my new brunetteness.

H-Town and 4th appointment
We had a lovely time in Houston this weekend... We drove down Friday night to see brother Sansabutt and got there at about 11:30pm. I, of course, was dead to the world for about 3 hours on the trip - I get so tired! We started the next morning with breakfast then went to the Museum of Fine Arts... What a great museum! We started with the Pompeii exhibit - very interesting and sobering. They had casts made out of plaster of where people died, capturing the moment of death. They also had the rings, bracelets, coins, silver, that the people wore and carried as they tried to escape.
My other favorite display was of a Japanese photographer, Miwa Yanagi. She uses photography and digital editing to create these really beautiful series. My favorite was her series on Grandmothers... very creative.
Then we got to meet Thia!! We visited Carl and Amber at their cute house in Kingwood - much prettier burbs than in Dallas. We grilled fajitas and played with the baby - so fun! She didn't love me at first, in fact, there was some crying as soon as I picked her up. (Which of course made me convinced that I would be a horrid mother.) She did however love Jay instantly and that was really cute. She warmed up to me by the next morning and smiled her face off. Soooo cute.
So that brings me back here. We drove back yesterday afternoon and I prayed the whole way about the baby... that it will be safe, healthy, that it will have faith, that Jay and I will be good parents. We went to the doctor this morning hoping to hear the heartbeat and didnt. Its such a stressful and confusing time. It does look like I have PCOS - it was pretty much confirmed by my blood test and the sonogram she did of my ovaries, but the baby "fetal pole" is still measuring about the same as last week, but the sack has grown. The PA said she wasnt worried, but went ahead and checked my blood again for hormone levels. They poke me every week and I'm starting to get track marks. :) Please pray that we hear the babies heartbeat next week!!

Snow Day
Today is very rainy, snowy, icy. Snow! In March! And all I want to do is sleep. We went to the Stars game with Jay's team at work last night, which put me in bed WAY later than my normal 8:30 - 9:30 time. It was fun but I was a bit irritable... They didn't give me enough cheese on my nachos. The guy in front of me had a fat head and kept blocking half the field (or rink or whatever you call it). I was tired. I was hungry. You know... generally gripey. Then to make matters worse I was up at 5:30 for a 6:30 meeting. NOT good - I need at least 10 hours of sleep and any less is not good. So that's my gripe for today. Oh ya - and my back hurts. I think the baby - which is now the size of a sweet pea, that's about .5 cm - is kicking me in the kidneys.
On a good note - I forgot how much I like hockey! Its a great sport and the games are fun - they bring out my violent side. There were 2 good fights, but I don't know who won the game. C'est la vie!

I am remiss...
And by the way - Jay is very manly - I realized in my last post I made him sound too unmanly. So please know that he is manly, very much so. And dont you forget it.
Well Helllloooo!
This is my first official blogging attempt. Well, I suppose its not an attempt, its an actual blog. Anyhow - We are way excited.. We're having a baby! We're only 6 weeks into the pregnancy - 6 weeks and 3 days to be exact. We haven't heard the heartbeat yet but we should next week if everything is going well. Its been a little stressful already. Besides the hormonal mood swings, the extreme tiredness and tender parts of your body, I've also had some spotting last weekend and that was very stressful. It turns out that I was a little low in my progesterone and the Doc is having me use some supplements. Since I started the meds I haven't had any more problems. What a blessing!! I didn't realize how much this meant until I thought it was being taken away. It taught me really fast that I am helpless in so many ways and need to trust God - because He is in control!!
Jay is really excited too - he's reading his pregnancy book entitled "The Caveman's Guide to Pregnancy". He's really been impressing me with all his knowledge!! He has also been super supportive - more so that I could have asked for.
We saw the peanut for the first time this week - it was so tiny! It measured only .5 cm and basically looked like a blurry little dot. The PA - Jennifer - that did the sono said we should see the baby's heartbeat next week. I can't wait!!! I really think that will help me to stop worrying so much!
