Weekend Projects

Here is my fabric for Lincolns room. The stripes are for the bumper with the black fabric is for the cording. The tan/grey color will be the top of the bedskirt with the blue velvet on the bottom. That will match the curtains as well with a blue band at the bottom. Lastly, the lighter tan/grey is for the bed sheet... I'm so excited! I'll start sewing soon.
Here is how far they got Saturday in the bath. Today they will finish the flooring, shower and tub tile and grout and put the second coat of paint on... I'll post more before/after pics later.

Hi-Yah!!!

Here is our baby. As of Monday he was breech with one leg right up in front of his face, so yes, that's his foot you see touching his forehead. He has one foot under him so it looked he was doing a Karate kick... He's going to be an athlete!

I had an eventful day and was rear-ended by a driver on my way to work this morning. I called my doctor and she had me go to the Labor and Delivery area of the hospital and they monitored me for 4 hours on the fetal and contraction monitor just to make sure everything was OK. It is - all is well for me and Lincoln. He was very, very active all day. Dancing enough for them to have to keep re-adjusting the monitor to get his heartbeat.

Now I am home and my bathroom tile is being laid and the texture is being done on the walls. So exciting!!! I'll post pics soon.

More Progress

I think several friends and relatives are a bit worried about the fact that my baby's room is still an empty room with no furniture or paint or anything else for that matter. But do not fear! We are making progress!

Our bathroom will be tiled, textured and painted this weekend. Our guest bath will be wallpapered soon after. We will also be painting the baby's room this weekend and putting together the crib and I will be starting the baby bedding as well! So see! We're not totally putting everything off till the last minute! Its just starting to all come together and that is so exciting. Kim came over and helped me pick a color for my bathroom that wasn't beige and that will look awesome! Now we just have to finish refinishing the furniture for the baby's room and we'll be done! Hah - sounds so easy huh?

My current opinion of pregnancy is that its not so bad. I have already started to forget the hives, nausea, exhaustion of the first trimester. I haven't had any sciatic pain in a while and actually have a little energy. I also finally look pregnant. Before I looked just a little chubby or perhaps like I had taken up beer drinking as a sport and had the gut to show for it. My cankles are a bit pouffy by the end of each day and let me tell you! Nothing says sexy like some pouffy cankles! Other than that this part is not so bad... I know uncomfortableness is to come but right now I am enjoying being pregnant and feeling baby Lincoln flip and flop around in my belly. He is quite the acrobat!

We went to the doctor Monday and everything looks good so far. Lincoln is measuring a week ahead of where he is in growth size and is estimated to weigh 3.2 lbs right now! Big strong boy! He is Breech right now but we're hoping he'll turn. My weight gain is fine according to the Doc and everything else is coming along great. The bad news is that I failed my 1 Hour glucose test. Because I'm high risk and basically borderline for Gestational Diabetes I am going to go ahead and see a nutritionist and start checking my sugars instead of doing another 3 hour glucose test. It doesn't hurt to be cautious and this will help me keep my weight in check too. Pray for Lincoln to be healthy!

1 more step

Jay and I registered last night so we are officially one more step towards being ready for our Baby's arrival! It was really a lot of fun and a bit unnerving as well. Do we need a stroller, and car seat, and jog stroller, and umbrella stroller, and a .... you get the idea. We figured it out as we went along and soon realized that you can not follow the selection guide they give you because you would end up ordering one of everything they have. (On the other hand maybe we will need it and just don't know it yet.)

Overall we had fun and registered for some really fun stuff and it made the fact that Lincoln will be here soon all the more real! I'm officially in my 3rd Trimester and can't wait for him to be here. To prepare we've started our Bradley child birthing classes and have really liked them and learned a lot so far. Yes, we are going the "hippy" natural way - as drug-free as possible. No, I'm not crazy... I just want to avoid medical intervention and the side effects that meds can bring if possible. That is not to say I wont totally wimp out and scream for the nearest Anesthesiologist, but I'm going to try not to. My favorite thing about Bradley is that the focus is on education... about my body, the baby, pregnancy, nutrition, exercise and of course, delivery. It makes me feel more prepared, knowing at least what to expect.

Just in case you want to peruse my registry and make any suggestions, we registered at Babies-R-Us and Pottery Barn Kids... I'd love to hear suggestions!

Going to be a Momma?!?

So I am starting to realize that at the end of this glorious pregnancy I'm going to have a baby to take care of. I mean, I've known that since I found out I was pregnant but knowing and KNOWING are 2 different things. What is currently driving home the scope of what I have gotten myself into are the new mommies that I know. For example, Ashley has a baby. A real. live. no one is going to take away. you are responsible for its whole life and well being. baby. And it isn't latching and it is sleeping during the day and not at night... Then cut to Catherine. She is doing great! But she has not slept for longer than 3 hours in a month! A month!

Here is the problem with the no sleep. If you know me at all, you know that when I get overly tired I tend to behave like a 2 year old who stayed up late, woke up early and skipped their nap. I am grumpy, whiny, pouty, 29 year old and I'm not proud of it but its true. So that is why I am currently having a bit of a freak out. I'm gonna be really tired for a really long time and that is just scary.

I know it will be fine and wonderful and I shouldn't worry but it is a bit scary. Also scary is that Lincoln's room is soooo NOT done yet, but I have a plan and it will be done soon. I love plans, they make me sane.

Amanda's wedding shower is this weekend and I'm going to stay with my Mom and go to her shower and cant wait!

So much going on...

There has been so much going on and I haven't posted in ages. So I will give you all the cliff notes version. I'm great, getting lots done at work and home and staying very busy now that I have some energy. On to more important things...

Amanda had a very fun and sassy Bachelorette Party in Kansas City. It was fun and hilarious all at once. Misti and I made the trip up, of course Ashley couldn't attend because she was great with child. We had a lingerie shower and went out and painted the town red with all of Amanda's friends from up there in Kansas City.



While I was there, Brother-in-law Mike aka. Sansabutt, came up for a visit and helped Jay demolish our bathroom... they did an awesome job and ripped out all the flooring, cabinets, counter tops, and mirrors in our bath along with the shower half wall that I had kicked a hole in. So now is the rebuilding stage and that is scarrrrry. Jay can do it though, he is a very very handy hubby.

Ashley had Charlotte!! She is such a princess warrior. She checked in Friday morning and they got Charlotte to turn in her belly from breech to head down. They gave her some Pitocen then labored, and labored, and labored. She hadn't made a lot of progress so they turned it off Friday night so she could get a good nights sleep. Same thing happened Saturday, so they broke her water this morning and at 1:17 Charlotte was born!!! She has strawberry blonde hair just like Ash. I'm so proud of Ashley and Tyler and their awesome effort and its KILLING me that I can't hold Charlotte RIGHT NOW! 3 days of labor, Pitocen, and even forceps to turn Charlotte's head - all with no Epidural - see! It can be done!!!
